Tottenham Hotspur defender Clement Lenglet has admitted his fitness has improved a lot this season.

Speaking to SPURSPLAY after the match, Lenglet reflected on Tottenham’s 0-0 draw against Frankfurt.

It was a big match for Spurs, who went into the game level on points with the German side.

The reverse fixture takes place next week, with the winner giving themselves a fantastic chance of reaching the knockout stages.

Lenglet played on the left of Antonio Conte’s back three last night, alongside Eric Dier and Cristian Romero.

The French defender has been playing in place of Ben Davies, who is currently injured.

Glenn Hoddle was very impressed with Lenglet’s performance, believing it to be his best in a Spurs shirt so far.

Lenglet happy his fitness is improving

The Tottenham defender was speaking after the match, and referred to his preparations for the season.

“I’m good, I’m good.” Lenglet said.

“I was a little bit tired at the beginning of the season because the preparation was really tough and I had to adapt to the intensity of the Premier League.

“Now I’m better, I’m going up and I hope to keep going up.”

There were pictures of Tottenham players collapsing after a running drill in South Korea.

Reports suggested that Conte was secretly pleased to see his squad struggling during his gruelling sessions.

The Italian manager had good intentions at heart and knew it would benefit the squad in the long-run.

Tottenham certainly came out of the blocks strongly this season, and were unbeaten in the league before Saturday’s match against Arsenal.

Conte’s side has stuttered in their last two Champions League matches though, and with this season’s congested fixture schedule, fitness is going to be key.
