Glenn Hoddle has told BT Sport (broadcast on 4/10; 21:35) that he was impressed by Clement Lenglet in Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League clash with Eintracht Frankfurt, claiming that it was his best performance yet for the club.
It proved to be another frustrating occasion for Antonio Conte’s side. Of course, they had a real point to prove following their abject showing in the North London derby.

Conte named the same side for the trip to Germany. Unfortunately, they were unable to get back to winning ways as they were held to a goalless draw by the Europa League champions.
Hoddle impressed with Lenglet
It was an improved performance from Tottenham. And Lenglet was one of those to impress.

The 27-year-old was probably not one of the signings fans were particularly excited about in the summer following his loan switch from Barcelona. But he has done well in Ben Davies’ absence.
He made more tackles than anyone else, while he also managed four clearances and three interceptions, according to Whoscored.
And as he left the field 12 minutes from time, Hoddle suggested that he liked the look of the Frenchman’s display.
“He did play well. Probably his best performance in a Spurs shirt, for me,” he told BT Sport.
Much of the business Tottenham did in the summer was to improve their overall squad. They already boasted a superb starting lineup. But they undoubtedly needed greater depth ahead of their Champions League return.
It remains to be seen if Lenglet has a long-term future in North London. But it is hard to criticise the deal to get him in on loan.
And it does appear that he has done a decent job filling in for a key player such as Davies.
