Leeds United have been linked with dozens of attackers this summer as Jesse Marsch looks for competition for Patrick Bamford.

Marsch has been asked all summer if Leeds would be strengthening their forward options.

The Whites lost top scorer Rodrigo to an injury against Everton last night.

Marsch didn’t rule out a move for new striker, saying: “Obviously a goal of ours from the start of the summer.

“We have been active and trying everything we can. See how it plays out.”

One of the players Leeds have most recently been linked with is PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo.

Telegraph journalist Jason Burt reported that Leeds were rivalling Everton and Southampton for Gakpo.

Sky Sports editor Alan Myers has since ruled out a move for Gakpo from the Toffees.

Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani stoked speculation even further, by liking a tweet about Leeds wanting Gakpo.

Southampton are still working on a deal for Gakpo, and the two sides could go head-to-head to sign the Dutchman.

Gakpo could be Leeds most exciting summer signing

It’s been a successful transfer window for Leeds so far.

The Whites have brought in upgrades across the pitch, and several players have slotted straight into the starting line-up.

Luis Sinisterra has already produced a couple of eye-catching performances since recovering from an injury.

Tyler Adams and Marc Roca have also impressed Marsch as well.

However, Gakpo would be the most exciting signing if he was to join before deadline day.

Already a Dutch international, Gakpo was one of the standout stats in the Netherlands last season.

What would Gakpo bring to Leeds

His 24 goal contributions were only topped by three players last season, and was five more than Sinisterra achieved.

He’s already top of this season’s chart as well, with three goals and three assists in three games.

Gakpo’s not just effective in attack, he’s wonderful to watch as well.

He stands at over 6ft tall and can quickly move the ball away from defenders in tight situations.

He’s a precise crosser of the ball as well, and will regularly find strikers with floated balls into the box.

Above all, he’s always in the right place at the right time to score, and could quickly become a fan favourite at Elland Road.

Leeds have recruited well this summer, but Gakpo would be the most exciting signing of the bunch is Radrizzani can get a deal over the line.
