Rio Ferdinand believes that Arsenal should go all out and make a move for Alexander Isak following the Newcastle United striker’s display at the weekend.

Alexander Isak has been absolutely outstanding for Newcastle this season. Of course, times have been tough for Eddie Howe’s side of late. But the 24-year-old has thrived.

Isak has now scored 10 goals in the Premier League this term, including three in his last three. And he produced a brilliant finish to score against Manchester City in Saturday’s stunning game at St James’ Park.

And speaking on Vibe with Five, Rio Ferdinand suggested that the Sweden international is absolutely ideal for Mikel Arteta and the Gunners.

“Isak, by the way, if I’m Arsenal, I’m going all out. I’m going and buying him,” he said.

Interestingly, it does appear that Edu and Mikel Arteta already have their eye on the Magpies striker. Reports have suggested that Arsenal are big admirers of Isak.

A move in this window is going to be nearly impossible. Arsenal do not appear to have huge amounts of money to spend. And Newcastle are surely not going to sell the former Borussia Dortmund star for anything other than a club-record sum after spending £63 million on him in the first place.

But clearly, Arsenal need to sign a more natural goalscorer. Gabriel Jesus is exceptional in so many ways. However, he has not been prolific since making the move to the Emirates.

Meanwhile, Eddie Nketiah looks to be a decent understudy. But it does not appear that Nketiah is going to be the striker to fire Arsenal to titles and glory.

Isak has had some injury issues since arriving on Tyneside. And that may be a concern given the fee that would surely be involved. But he has more goals than Arsenal’s two strikers combined this season.

So it would be a huge statement if Arsenal could find a way to bring Isak in at some stage over the coming months.
