Alan Shearer has claimed that Eddie Nketiah is not the solution for Arsenal if they want to win the Premier League or the Champions League this season.
The Gunners have crashed out of both, the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup. Their only chance of silverware this season is if they win either the Premier League or the Champions League, and Shearer believes they need a new striker to achieve that – an upgrade on ‘impact player’ Nketiah.

Alan Shearer says Eddie Nketiah is ‘not the solution’ for Arsenal
Eddie Nketiah has come under a fair bit of criticism at Arsenal recently.
The Gunners have won just one of their last seven games in all competitions, and their biggest issue has been their inability to score goals.
Gabriel Jesus has struggled, as has Nketiah up top. Several fans and pundits want the £100,000-a-week (Spotrac) Englishman gone and replaced in this window.
Shearer has now had his say, and he believes that if Arsenal want to win either the Premier League or the Champions League this season, Nketiah is not the solution.
He wrote in The Athletic: “I always felt with City in the days before Erling Haaland’s arrival that they ran the risk of the very biggest moments passing them by.
“Arsenal are miles from that level and I simply don’t believe they will get to where they want to go without a reliable No 9.
“Kai Havertz isn’t that player, Gabriel Jesus is not a natural goalscorer, Eddie Nketiah is a good impact player but not the solution if you’re aiming to win the Premier League or Champions League.”

Arsenal need a new striker
It is no secret at this point that Arsenal‘s biggest weakness at the moment is scoring goals.
Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka are being dealt with quite comfortably, and they haven’t been in the greatest of forms either. However, both players are irreplaceable at the Emirates.
Up front, however, Arsenal can bring in a new striker. Injuries have really hurt Gabriel Jesus, while Nketiah is just not the man who will guarantee you goals every game.
Crystal Palace have made an offer to sign Nketiah today. If Arsenal can convince the Eagles to sign him permanently for a big fee, they could use that money to buy a top-level striker to give them the best chance of winning silverware this season.
