‘I’d love him’, ‘Could do wonders’: Some Everton fans excited by new links with manager
Everton are being linked with Brighton boss Graham Potter – and some Toffees fans on Twitter are excited about the news.
The Athletic claims that Everton’s director of football Marcel Brands is a big fan of the current Premier League manager.
Potter, 46, is the manager at Brighton, who he helped keep in the top division once again this season.
Everton reportedly have no favourite in their quest to appoint a new manager, but Brands rates the Brighton coach.
Potter kickstarted his managerial career with Swedish minnows Ostersund. However, the English boss lead them to three consecutive promotions, as well as a Swedish Cup, and completed a move to English football with Swansea City in 2018.
Unconventionally, he showed one way you can make a real name for yourself.
He’s now had two years in charge of Brighton, and the style of his team’s play is often lauded.
Graham Potter seems popular with Everton fans
A selection of Everton supporters on social media are convinced Brighton’s manager would suit them and they admire his attacking philosophy.
Firstly, he’s shown at Brighton he can organise a side to keep possession and play attacking football. Secondly, the English coach has a knack of improving with stepping up in levels. Finally, he’s someone with massive potential that has received plenty of praise from neutrals.
Carlo Ancelotti decided to walk away from his managerial position at Goodison Park to rejoin Real Madrid. However, there is a chance now though for a new man to take charge of a talent Everton group.
If Potter can implement his own style, there is every chance he’ll be a favourite.
It would be his biggest role to date if Everton were genuinely interested, but he’s building an impressive CV. It looks like he may be ready for a bigger job so the Toffees should be brave enough to give him an opportunity.
