Manchester United have a lot of work to do in the summer transfer window, mainly in the attack.
Indeed, Manchester United need to revamp their frontline, and they have a few targets in mind in order to do just that.
Matheus Cunha is keen on joining Manchester United, while United want to sign Liam Delap this summer.
Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has come up with a left-field suggestion on what United could do this summer in order to improve their attack.

Manchester United could sign Ollie Watkins in swap deal
Wright suggested that Manchester United could sign Ollie Watkins in a swap deal for Marcus Rashford.
Of course, Rashford is currently on loan at Aston Villa, and Rashford has earned praise for his performances at Villa Park.
Meanwhile, Watkins is an Arsenal target, and Arsenal bid £40m in January in order to try to sign Watkins after the striker was reportedly offered to Mikel Arteta.
“The mere fact is that the word was that they offered him to Arsenal, and then the Jhon Duran thing happened, but if they wanted him, maybe that could be a good swap with Ollie Watkins to United, they need a striker, I’m just saying to do the Rashford deal, that won’t be easy due to the amount of money he’s on,” Wright said.
Manchester United’s past swap deals
Swap deals are often spoken about in football, but they very rarely actually come off.
However, in this new era of Profit and Sustainability rules, swap deals are becoming more prevalent.
Tottenham signed Archie Gray in a part-exchange deal involving Joe Rodon last summer, while Elliot Anderson and Odysseas Vlachodimos swapped places at Newcastle and Nottingham Forest in similar fashion.
United have rarely ever done this sort of deal, but it has happened twice in the Premier League era.
| Player signed | Player swapped | Club | Year |
| Alexis Sanchez | Henrikh Mkhitaryan | Arsenal | 2018 |
| Andy Cole | Keith Gillespie + £7m | Newcastle | 1995 |
Alexis Sanchez was a serious flop at Manchester United after swapping places with Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Meanwhile, Andy Cole’s move was a shock, but the striker became a legend at Old Trafford, while Keith Gillespie had a respectable career at Newcastle too.
These swap deals do happen from time to time, and, a move involving both Rashford and Watkins this summer does make quite a lot of sense.
