Ian Wright says he ‘realised’ something about Arne Slot during Arsenal vs Liverpool on Sunday

Arne Slot faced his biggest challenge as Liverpool manager so far on Sunday as he took his team to the Emirates to face Arsenal.

Liverpool went into that game knowing that a win would take them back top of the Premier League, but a draw away from home against Arsenal is also never a bad result.

Slot’s side did manage to pick up a point as Mohamed Salah scored late on to restore parity.

That result leaves Liverpool second in the Premier League.

Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has been reviewing this game, and he says that he made a realisation about Slot in this match.

Ian Wright makes Arne Slot realisation

Wright shared an interesting observation on Slot.

The pundit says that Slot looked a lot more energised during this game, especially when Salah scored the equaliser.

Wright theorised that Slot has been influenced by some of the talk in the media about Liverpool this season and how the Arsenal game would be the true test of their mettle.

“Did you see how his energy changed? With, the celebration on the line. I was quite pleased to see that,” Wright said.

“What I realised about the way he’s celebrated, especially the Salah goal, was he’s been very cool and calm up to this point, and people talking about, yeah, well, we’ll see when they get to Arsenal, we’ll see their credentials when they get to Arsenal. And that talk seems to have been like feeding into his brain because like, he was pumped celebrating on the line.”

Slot is becoming more like Jurgen Klopp

Slot was praised when he joined Liverpool for being a much more controlled figure than Jurgen Klopp.

Indeed, Slot was seen as much less emotional than Klopp and a lot more analytical.

However, that seems to be changing.

Jamie Carragher noted last week against Chelsea that Slot seemed to be a bit more animated, and that continued this week against Arsenal.

That is part an parcel of managing a club like Liverpool in the Premier League, the fans bring a special atmosphere to these sorts of games, and it’s impossible to not get wrapped up in it sometimes.

Slot may be a cool, calm and collected manager most of the time, but, at his heart, he is still a football fan and he’s bound to get that adrenaline rush when his team scores a late goal or secures a big result.

Slot has only been in charge of Liverpool for a few months, but he’s already starting to embrace the emotion of the club in the same way Jurgen Klopp did.
