‘I would definitely’: Ian Wright says there’s three Tottenham players Conte simply has to start

Former England striker, Ian Wright, has been offering up his thoughts on Tottenham Hotspur under Antonio Conte this week as pressure already starts to mount on the Italian.

A run of poor form and another outspoken interview this week have left some wondering whether the relationship between Conte and the club will ever work. Of course, many have said right from the start that Conte wouldn’t be afraid of letting his feelings known if things weren’t to his liking.

But one thing Conte can affect is team selection. Picking the right XI is his job and he’s the man in place tasked with trying to get the best from that XI. And according to Ian Wright, Conte should be picking three Spurs players every week and putting the onus on that trio getting involved in the game.

“Harry Kane has to start, Son has to start and I would definitely have Moura starting. So 3-4-3 with the wing-backs which he wants pushed on is probably the best way for them to do it. But are they good enough?,” Wright said on The Kelly and Wright Show.

“I watched them against Wolves and Wolves put them under pressure and there was mistakes. They made mistakes in terms of the pressure they were put under. But whatever they are doing has to lead to them getting the ball in and around Kane, Son and Moura.”

Tottenham face the most difficult of tests this weekend away at Manchester City. The league leaders are flying, and smashed five past Sporting Lisbon in Europe in midweek.

TBR’s View: Tottenham Front Three Needs To Fire

Wright is bang on about those three players needing to be played. And to be honest, most weeks they do.

The big issue really here is it begs the question around what was the point in signing Dejan Kulusevski? He isn’t better than any of those players Wright mentions. Fabio Paratici’s job was to get players who improve Tottenham. But the Juventus man doesn’t make a dent on the first XI.

Conte will be hoping this weekend can be a turning point. But in reality, it could be another loss and City play in a way that could seriously expose Spurs’ weaknesses at the moment.
