Ian Wright expects Harry Kane to stay at Tottenham amid Bayern links

Ian Wright has told The Kelly and Wrighty Show that he expects Harry Kane to stay at Tottenham Hotspur for as long as Antonio Conte is there – despite interest in the striker from Bayern Munich.

Kane has been in unbelievable form at the start of this campaign. The England captain has scored nine goals in his opening 10 Premier League appearances.

That form has been vital for a Spurs side yet to reach top gear. And that has left Conte’s men third in the table, level on points with Manchester City.

There is speculation surrounding Kane’s future once again. Reports from Bild in September claimed that Bayern Munich had told his agent that they planned to make a bid if he does not sign a new contract.

Obviously, moving to Bayern would probably guarantee Kane the chance to win silverware. However, he is absolutely adored by the Tottenham fanbase. And it does appear to have the potential to be a special period for Spurs.

Ian Wright expects Harry Kane to stay amid Bayern Munich interest

Certainly, Wright does not expect Kane to leave for as long as Conte is at the helm. He also backed Spurs to be title contenders.

“Nobody is speaking about them too much. Everybody is talking about they aren’t this or that. You have an elite manager that have elite players.”

“If that happens, where he adds a couple of players until after the World Cup and they are still in touch, then you have to start looking at Spurs because they aren’t playing unbelievable right now, but they are in touch.”

“That’s it now with Harry. You’d have thought that he’s going to be at Tottenham now,” he told The Kelly and Wrighty Show.

When the Bayern interest was mentioned, he added: “Really? With all due respect to Bayern Munich, if Conte is staying, and I’m Harry Kane, I’m probably staying because like I say, we don’t know what’s going to happen after the World Cup, we don’t know how everything’s going to pan out.

“The fact is if they come back and they’re in touch, I just feel like something is going to happen this season that is not in the ordinary.”

It would be interesting to know how Kane would feel about a potential move to Bayern. Of course, he is likely to be tempted. They have had a stranglehold on the Bundesliga title for the last decade. They have also won the Champions League twice in that time.

However, he would clearly love nothing more than to win honours with Tottenham. And that would certainly be a lot more fulfilling than lifting trophies with Bayern.

But obviously, it would be a gamble to stay put if his main motivation is lifting silverware.

Wright however, believes that the risk is worth taking.
