Ian Wright and Rob Holding react on Instagram as Arsenal confirm exit
Zach Medley has completed a permanent exit from Arsenal, joining Belgian side KV Oostende. Having spent the second half of last season on loan at Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock, Medley has now left the Gunners permanently. Both Ian Wright and Rob Holding have reacted on Twitter, as Medley leaves Arsenal.
Medley, 20, has been out on loan twice over the course of the last 12 months – starting the first half of the season with Gillingham. The defender, who has played three times for Arsenal’s senior side, then moved to Kilmarnock in January. Oostende have recently used the Scottish league as a talent pool.
However, there is enormous competition ahead of Medley in the pecking order at centre-back – and it has convinced Medley to depart. In a somewhat surprising move, he has moved to Belgium – who recently signed Jack Hendry from Celtic. Medley posted an emotional message on Instagram.
What have Wright and Holding said, about Medley leaving Arsenal?
That competition at centre-back has also convinced Mark McGuinness to leave, joining Cardiff City. Medley will now be looking to break into Oostende’s starting line-up and get regular game time with Oostende. Fans gave their verdicts on his exit, before a move was announced.
Plenty responded to Medley’s post on Instagram, including Arsenal legend Wright. The ex-Gunners star posted a four-word message, telling Medley “all the best Zech”. Holding, one of a number of centre-backs ahead of Medley in the pecking order, also commented.
