Ian Wright has admitted he had to defend Everton forward Alex Iwobi after his move to Everton.
Speaking on the Premier League’s official YouTube channel, Iwobi and Wright were speaking about his move.
Arsenal have always had a brilliant young academy, and their current crop of youngsters is one of the best they’ve produced.
Bukayo Saka is impressing for both club and country, and Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe have all played their parts this season.
However, there was a period when Arsenal weren’t bringing through as many top-level players.
Alex Iwobi made the best impression possible, when he scored on his Arsenal debut against current club Everton.

The 26-year-old went on to make 149 appearances for the Gunners, and scored in a European final against Chelsea.
He joined Everton for £35m in 2019, a fee that some Arsenal fans couldn’t believe at the time.
Ian Wright has admitted that he felt he had to defend Iwobi from plenty of criticism after his Arsenal exit.
After a shaky couple of season at Goodison Park, he’s established himself as one of the club’s most important players.
Wright admits Iwobi worries after Arsenal exit
When talking about the Nigerian international’s transfer, Wright said: “When you look at what you’re doing now, and anybody speaks about Everton, you’re the first person they speak about. You’re the positive.
“There was a time I was worried for you when you first got there.
“I felt like I had to do a lot of putting out these fires, because they were going at you.”
Iwobi has put in some brilliant performances for the club this season, but Everton could still be in trouble.

Their 3-1 defeat to Fulham at the weekend will be a real concern, particularly as the visitors have nothing to play for this season.
Wright has backed Iwobi as one of Everton’s most prominent players now after his Arsenal exit.
They managed to take three points off the Gunners earlier in the season, and that could end up being the difference between staying up or relegation.
