Arsenal face Brentford on Saturday, and Aaron Ramsdale is set to get a rare start against the Bees.
David Raya is ineligible to play against his parent club, and that means that Ramsdale will get a start in this game.
The England international is being presented with a great opportunity here, and he needs to make sure he grasps it with both hands.
Speaking on the Handbrake Off Podcast, Adrian Clarke has been discussing Ramsdale’s big chance here, and he says that it’s not impossible for this to be a turning point for the goalkeeper, claiming that he’s seen entire careers transform on the basis of one game in the past.

Ramsdale’s career could change against Brentford
Clarke shared his verdict on the £25m goalkeeper.
“I think it’s unlikely, but I wouldn’t say it’s impossible. Just think I have to have a blinder here and be outstanding. In this match he has to have a great game. If he performs it could play into his favour. I’ve seen careers turn before on one game, we all have, where players have an unbelievable game and the manager changes their mind on them, it can happen and a lot of people will be hoping it happens this weekend with Aaron Ramsdale against Brentford,” Clarke said.
Seen it before
Arsenal know better than any other club that a goalkeeper’s career can be changed by one game.
Cast your mind back a few years and you’ll remember Bernd Leno’s injury against Brighton led to a little-known goalkeeper by the name of Emi Martinez getting a shot in goal for the Gunners.
Fast forward to the present day and Martinez has now been voted as one of the best players on the planet after a number of years struggling to get a game.
Of course, Ramsdale’s situation is very different, but if he does perform against Brentford, perhaps that could be his first step towards regaining the number one shirt at the Emirates.
