'I tell you what': Ally McCoist urges Rangers to go and offer contract to 'amazing' free agent now
Glasgow Rangers legend Ally McCoist has suggested the Ibrox club should sign Gareth Bale after his Real Madrid exit.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst brought Bale’s Welsh international teammate Aaron Ramsey to the Scottish Premiership during the January window.
Now, Bale and Ramsey have helped Wales qualify for the World Cup later this year and the former Tottenham man needs a new club.
On TalkSport, at 09:52am, McCoist says that Rangers should make an offer to try to sign the forward in the summer.
Rangers should sign Bale, says McCoist
“Cardiff does make a lot of sense but it depends what he wants,” said McCoist, amid rumours linking Bale with the Championship club.
“I tell you what, if I was at Rangers now, I’d be offering him something.
“He’d play every week up here and he’d definitely do a job at Rangers.”
Ramsey’s Rangers loan did not go as well as hoped and it concluded with him missing the crucial penalty in the heartbreaking Europa League final loss.
It was suggested by reports in Spain in April that Rangers are among the clubs who could take Bale on a free transfer this summer.
The Gers did manage to put together a package to get Ramsey, despite his huge Juventus wages.
That said, it could be a different story to get Bale on a permanent transfer. It is really about how realistic Bale wants to be with his wage demands.
If Rangers did make an offer, Bale would likely speak to Ramsey about what life was like at Ibrox. For now, we will have to wait to see how this one plays out.
