Gary Lineker has now been discussing the success of a Manchester United youngster following yesterday’s win at Luton Town.

Erik ten Hag’s side continued their really encouraging form at Luton, securing three points at a venue many have found overwhelming.

But thanks to a double by Rasmus Hojlund, who is now brimming with confidence, United were able to make it four Premier League wins in a row.

Along with Hojlund, Kobbie Mainoo was also brilliant again, showing a presence on the ball that some of his teammates could learn from.

Raphael Varane also stood out, a defender who understood the need for old-school defending at Kenilworth Road.

However, it was Rasmus Hojlund that Gary Lineker came away from the Luton win praising, a 21-year-old who is now dragging Man United forwards.

Lineker was speaking on ‘The Rest is Football’ podcast after the win and mentioned the fact that the Dane has become the youngest player to score in six successive Premier League games.

Lineker discussed Hojlund’s tough start to life in England, but thought ten Hag’s faith was now paying dividends.

He said: “I want to start with Hojlund. He has become the youngest player in Premier League history to score in six successive games.

“He has really bounced back and that speaks volumes for him. It was a struggle for him, particularly in the Premier League, he did score goals in the Champions League.

“They have stuck with him, or were forced to stick with him. But I like him, he is quick, he can finish. I think Manchester United have got a gooden.”

Of course, United fans will be delighted to see Hojlund turning a corner at Old Trafford.

The Dane’s determination and spirit has proved so likeable, and all were willing him to come good.

And whilst some may think there was an element of fortune in Hojlund’s second United goal at Luton, Lineker will just recognise a striker who is so confident that he just can’t do wrong right now.

It’s clear that ten Hag will need another striker to complement Hojlund in the summer, with Anthony Martial expected to depart.

But there’s no doubt that Hojlund can now lead the line for years to come.

That being said, Gary Neville was actually comparing Hojlund to Erling Haaland yesterday.
