Gary Neville has claimed that Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund looked like Erling Haaland ‘in the making’ at Luton Town yesterday.

Rasmus Hojlund continued his recent run in front of goal by netting an early brace at Kenilworth Road.

The 21-year-old was gifted with a brilliant chance in the fourth minute and made no mistake as he rounded the Luton goalkeeper before placing the ball into an empty net.

Hojlund’s second of the afternoon was special as he produced a brilliant improvised finish. 

After failing to score in his opening 14 Premier League games, the Dane has now netted seven in his last six appearances for Manchester United. 

And Gary Neville has claimed Hojlund’s most recent performance reminded him of Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

Neville says Hojlund looks like Haaland ‘in the making’

Speaking on the latest episode of his podcast, Neville reacted to United’s 2-1 win at Luton on Sunday. 

Hojlund’s goals handed Erik ten Hag’s men another three points and the youngster received high praise from Neville.

“Hojlund looked like, and I didn’t say it on commentary, but he looked like a Haaland in the making,” the United legend said.

“Just power and strength and that aggression in his running. I really love that about a United centre-forward, I’ve always liked it.” 

United were fully aware of Hojlund’s potential, despite the youngster’s early struggles in the Premier League.

The former Atalanta man also netted five times in six Champions League appearances before United’s early exit.

Hojlund seems to be finding his best form at the perfect time for the Red Devils as they make a late push for a top-four finish.

The youngster was lacking confidence at the start of the season in the Premier League but he’s rediscovered his scoring touch. To be compared to a player of Haaland’s calibre is huge praise from Neville too.
