Scott McTominay has been one of Manchester United’s better players this season.
The Scot was named Unied’s captain for the game against Liverpool this weekend, and he put in another solid showing.
However, some were still critical of McTominay during that game, but speaking on BBC 606, Robbie Savage has jumped to the midfielder’s defence.
Indeed, Savage says that McTominay is one United player who doesn’t deserve any criticism, claiming that he knows for a fact how hard the £30m man works in training and how much of a leader he is.

McTominay brilliant in training
Savage defended McTominay.
“Why are you digging out Scott McTominay? He’s been given the captain’s armband. The situation with himself and Maguire, he’s fought, managers pick him, he has a great attitude, I know he’s a leader on the training pitch, I know that for a fact, and I know he’s a leader in the dressing room. Why are you digging out McTominay when everyone is questioning Bruno Fernandes?” Savage said.
Working hard
Scott McTominay will never be the most talented player at Manchester United, but he’s arguably been the Red Devils’ best player this season by virtue of the fact he’s worked harder than everyone else.
McTominay has always turned up in the big moments for United this season, and that’s more than we can say about some of the Red Devils’ so-called best and highest paid players.
McTominay has, by-and-large, been fantastic this term, but, sadly, the fact that the midfielder has arguably been United’s best player this term is a damning indictment of Erik Ten Hag’s side’s general performance througbout the entire season.
United haven’t been good enough this term, and the fact that McTominay is shining above anyone else goes to show just how poor some of his teammates have been.
