‘I fancy’… Paul Merson predicts who’ll win Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal

Paul Merson has predicted how Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will fare against Nuno’s Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Tuesday evening.

The former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit has also sent a warning to the Gunners about Liverpool.

So, what has Paul Merson said about Nottingham Forest against Arsenal? Let’s take a look.

Paul Merson backs Arsenal to win vs Nottingham Forest

Well, Nottingham Forest will take on Arsenal at the City Ground in the Premier League on Tuesday evening.

Forest are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

Nuno’s side have picked up 20 points from 21 matches this season. The Reds are four points above third-from-bottom Luton Town, who have played 20 games.

Meanwhile, Arsenal currently find themselves third in the Premier League table.

The Gunners are on 43 points, five points behind leaders Liverpool. The North London club will face the Reds at the Emirates Stadium this coming weekend.

Ahead of the match against Forest, former Arsenal star Paul Merson has underlined the importance of Mikel Arteta’s side winning at the City Ground on Tuesday and then beating Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.

The Sky Sports pundit has backed Arsenal to pick up all three points against Forest away from home.

Merson wrote in SportsKeeda: “Arsenal have got to keep winning to stay in the Premier League title race. After this one, they have a big game against Liverpool at the Emirates and if they get six points, they are right back in it as they have a run of winnable fixtures after that.

“Forest aren’t the worst team in the world – they will look to play on the counter and Arsenal don’t have a good record at the City Ground. I think it’ll be difficult, but I fancy the Gunners to record a narrow win.

“Arsenal have a fantastic squad, but they need a world-class center forward to take them to the next level. I also feel they should be more consistent if they are to sustain a Premier League title challenge season after season.

“If you look at some of the games they lost this season – like Fulham and West Ham – they should be winning those games if they want to get their hands on the prize. Manchester City have shown over the years how relentless they can be, while Liverpool are once again a force to be reckoned with this season.

“If Arsenal win their next two games, they are right back into the Premier League title race without a shadow of a doubt.

“Prediction: Nottingham Forest 1-2 Arsenal.”

My View: Arsenal will win at City Ground

I am backing Arsenal to win against Nottingham Forest. In my view, the Gunners, who have been linked with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, will pick up all three points at the City Ground on Tuesday evening.

Arsenal have a much better team than Forest, who are trying to sign Giovanni Reyna before the January transfer window closes this week.

While the Gunners have lost two of their past five Premier League matches, their last game ended in a 5-0 hammering of Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium.
