'I don't understand': Pundit shocked by recent transfer news relating to Leeds
Leeds United tried their best to bring Charles De Ketelaere to Elland Road this summer.
However, the Whites ultimately fell short, with the player preferring a move to AC Milan instead.
Leeds were involved in the transfer saga involving De Ketelaere and the Serie A champions for weeks.
But earlier this week, Jesse Marsch’s side officially lost out on the 21-year-old.
De Ketelaere swapped Club Brugge for Milan in a reported £29million deal.
And Dutch analyst Jan Mulder has questioned the striker’s decision to move to the San Siro.
Mulder previously said De Ketelaere was making “the mistake of the year” in snubbing Leeds and joining Milan.
Now the move has been made official, the pundit reiterated his dismay with the player’s decision.
“I don’t understand anything about this transfer,” Het Laatste Nieuws – via Sport Witness – report him as saying.
“Of course, he should have gone to the Premier League, because that is the very best league in the world.
“Milan and the Serie A, that’s where celebrities in their final days go these days.
“Leeds plays in the Premier League and Leeds has also played attractive football. Football that suits De Ketelaere.”
A bit of a shame, but Leeds can be proud with their summer business – TBR View
Mulder has no doubt won a few Whites fans over for his desire to see De Ketelaere join Leeds instead of Milan.
Nonetheless, you can’t lose too much sleep over a player turning your club down.
Besides, De Ketelaere hasn’t gone to just any old team – he’s joined one of Italy’s biggest clubs and the reigning Serie A champions.
The Leeds hierarchy and staff will have surely put this saga behind them and are already looking elsewhere for reinforcements.
And the Whites can be proud with their transfer business so far this season.
Ahead of the start of the new Premier League campaign, Marsch has a strong team at his disposal.
