'The mistake of the year': Pundit shocked by transfer news relating to Leeds today

It looks as though Leeds United have missed out on Charles De Ketelaere.

The Whites have been involved in a transfer saga involving the Belgium ace and AC Milan for weeks now.

Leeds often appeared just behind the Rossoneri in the race for De Ketelaere, but they remained in contention.

But now, 90Min has reported that Leeds have all-but lost out on the 21-year-old.

Apparently, Milan have agreed a deal to sign De Ketelaere from Club Brugge.

The Serie A side will reportedly be paying an initial €31m (£26m) with €4m (£3.4m) in add-ons for De Ketelaere.

He is now waiting to undergo a medical before being unveiled as a Milan player, added the report.

“Some of the nicest football in the world”

Pundit and former Netherlands international Jan Mulder believes De Ketelaere is making a huge mistake.

“Charles does not want to live and play football at a club that fought against relegation last season,” Mulder told HUMO, via Sport Witness.

“But Leeds, under coach Bielsa, played some of the nicest football in the world in recent years.

“Under… Jesse Marsch, who wanted De Ketelaere and immediately pledged the requested 40 million, they are doing about as well in terms of attack.

“(That’s) exactly the game that suits De Ketelaere.

“The Premier League, where the pace is murderous and the opposition fiercer, is better and much more attractive than the bygone glory of Serie A.

“Charles chooses the worshippers of sentiment. The mistake of the year.”
