Andy Gray has slammed Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag for what he did during the game with Liverpool today.
In the end, United got a well-earned point as they limited the home side to few opportunities and came away with something to build on.
Defensively, United were improved and they managed to keep a clean-sheet against the odds. Even Mo Salah, so prolific against United in the past, couldn’t find a way past Andre Onana.
However, it wasn’t all brilliant from United and their manager Ten Hag. And speaking on BEIN Sports, Andy Gray hammered the United manager for how he was trying to use Onana as a playmaker.
Andy Gray slams Ten Hag for how he used Onana v Liverpool
Speaking about Ten Hag’s use of Onana, Gray simply said he wasn’t having it.
“Sorry, I don’t get it. He’s supposed to be some genius coach that knows everything, I’m sorry. I sit here and he probably knows more than any of us sat here cos he’s coaching Manchester United. But sorry, to be continually to be giving it your goalkeeper. If I’m Evans or Varane I’m saying to the manager, ‘why am I giving the ball to a goalkeeper? Am I not good enough? And if that’s the case, I’ll be seeing you later’. “

Ten Hag will be happy
Gray makes a good enough point here but in the end, United went and stopped Liverpool running riot and got themselves a draw in doing so.
It’s been hard for any team to pick points up against Liverpool this season so the fact Ten Hag got his team to do just that is impressive in itself.
Sure, the use of Onana can be questioned and there’ll always be those who like to look into how he’s being used.
But clearly, Ten Hag had a plan and in the end, it worked.
Ultimately, the United gaffer has had the last laugh today and he walks away from Liverpool with a good point in the bag.
