Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has claimed that Manchester City aren’t the only side pushing them to become better, Tottenham Hotspur are too.
Antonio Conte’s side blew the Premier League title race wide open on Saturday. It seemed like it was City’s to lose this time, but their loss against Spurs on Saturday has given Liverpool some much-needed hope.
Realistically, only City and Liverpool are in the title race. They are the two best teams in the country by a mile and have pushed each other to become incredible over the last few years.
Klopp, however, has claimed that the likes of Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United have also played a big part in pushing them to become a better side.
Jurgen Klopp: Tottenham are also pushing Liverpool to be a better team
The German told Liverpool’s official website: “For us, it is, first and foremost, important that we are close to the top, whoever is at the top, because that obviously shows that something is going in the right direction.
“This year included, in the last four seasons we were one year not around because last year we had our problems and had some struggles. It [has been] going on for a while that both teams are able to do some special stuff, I have to say. With all respect, what City are doing is incredible.
“I think we are pushing each other as well, not only us – I don’t forget the other teams, I don’t forget Chelsea, I don’t forget United, Arsenal, Tottenham and whoever is there.
“We are pushing each other and that’s how it is going a little bit, it keeps you just going; there is no chance to get a bit soft or whatever because the other one will be there immediately to catch you.”

The Reds take on Leeds tonight
Liverpool can close the gap between themselves and Manchester City to just three points if they beat Leeds United at Anfield tonight. If that isn’t enough motivation, we don’t know what is.
Klopp’s men have always been incredible at home. Anfield has been a real fortress for them and although Leeds did give them a scare at the start of last season, the Reds managed to come out on top.
Liverpool will go into the game as favourites tonight and we can’t really see any other result apart from a win for the home side. However, football is a funny old game and much bigger upsets have happened in the past.
Klopp will remind his players of that ahead of the game this evening.
