Mohamed Salah has certainly not been himself at the start of the 2025/26 campaign for Liverpool.
The Reds underwent wholesale changes of the title-winning squad this summer, culminating in the £125 million arrival of Alexander Isak from Newcastle United on deadline day.
Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz departed Anfield for Al-Hilal and Bayern Munich, respectively, and with Hugo Ekitike signing earlier in the summer, there will be a new-look frontline at Anfield.
However, Salah has not looked like himself since the Community Shield loss against Crystal Palace, and his behaviour both on and off the pitch is not what the Liverpool supporters expect from the Egyptian.

Mohamed Salah responds to Liverpool disrespect
The 33-year-old responded to a Liverpool fan account on X, claiming that replacing Nunez and Diaz with Isak and Florian Wirtz was a significant upgrade for the Reds.
Salah replied: “How about we celebrate the great signings without disrespecting the PL champions?”
Indeed, Salah’s Premier League form has been unflattering to say the least, in comparison to his usual record-setting high standards.
His performance at Wembley during the Community Shield raised concerns as Chris Sutton claimed Salah lacked confidence during the loss, as he skied his spot-kick over the crossbar during the penalty shootout.
Meanwhile, the Reds’ talisman has been seen having altercations with opposition players on the pitch, combined with his emotional moment after the Bournemouth win, and his comments at the PFA Player of the Year awards, wherein he said Liverpool have not necessarily improved the squad – the alarm bells are ringing.
Of course, the loss of his dear friend and teammate Diogo Jota has had a profound effect, and perhaps losing two of his closest teammates this summer to other clubs has also taken its toll.
Everything considered, what Salah is going through at the moment is more than just football, and the Liverpool supporters should continue to show their unwavering support for the Egyptian, as they have done throughout his Anfield career.
Mohamed Salah needs the international break
The international break arrives at the perfect time for Salah; he can take this opportunity to reset and focus his efforts on representing Egypt.
Salah has been tipped for the Ballon d’Or this year, and Liverpool will soon need their forward to replicate this form when he returns from international duty.
It will take time for Salah to get accustomed to playing alongside his new teammates, and although the Reds appear stronger on paper, the chemistry between the forward players needs to be developed.
Furthermore, the time spent away from Anfield should give Salah some perspective, and hopefully, he returns in a better headspace, as above all else, the human behind the player must take priority.
