The Telegraph reported last night that Liverpool have offered a new contract to their veteran midfielder James Milner.
The Englishman, now 36 years old, will complete his seventh year at the club at the end of this season. He has been a fantastic servant for the Reds, playing a big part in their Premier League and Champions League triumphs – on and off the pitch.
Milner’s current contract expires at the end of this season and there has been a lot of talk about his future.
Jurgen Klopp extended his deal last week and one of the first things that the German has done after his new contract is offer one to his trusted lieutenant, Milner.

The report claims that Klopp personally asked the Liverpool board to hand Milner a new one-year deal that would see him extend his stay at Anfield to eight years.
It has also been claimed that Milner is certain to sign the contract, thus ending all the speculation about his future at Liverpool ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Jose Enrique, who is arguably the most active ex-Liverpool man on social media these days, had his say on a new deal for Milner, and it looks like he can’t wait for it to be made official.
“Hope this is true, this is great news. 100 per cent he deserves another year,” the former Reds left-back wrote on Instagram.

A new contract for James Milner at Liverpool makes a lot of sense.
There’s nobody more experienced than the Englishman at Anfield and his presence massively helps out the younger players at the club, who would undoubtedly want to emulate the kind of career he’s had.
On the pitch, Milner gives Klopp a ton of options as well. He can play almost anywhere and rarely ever has a bad game.
Enrique’s right, a new deal for Milner is good news and Liverpool fans will be hoping it’s made official in the coming days.
