‘I’m still a little bit gutted’: One Spurs player thinks he should have done better this season, despite plaudits

Tottenham forward, Heung-Min Son, might have won the player of the year award but he admitted that he still thinks there’s room for improvement.

Son was given the award after Tottenham had seen off Burnley yesterday to keep their top four dreams well and truly alive heading into the final weekend. Of course, Newcastle can do them a massive favour by beating Arsenal in tonight’s Monday Night Football finale.

And while Son will be watching on hoping for a Newcastle win, Tottenham’s player of the year admitted he is unhappy with some of his performances this season.

“There is always improvement. You can’t be always happy with the whole season. I’m still a little bit gutted that I didn’t play some games well. I don’t know if I deserve it, because I think every single player deserves it and they worked really hard,” Son told Tottenham’s official channels.

Son can still win the Premier League golden boot as well, sitting on 21 goals, just one shy of Liverpool’s Mo Salah. Indeed, there is a chance Jurgen Klopp might not even play Salah this week, after the forward went off injured in the cup final.

Harry Kane has already said he’ll be texting Kieran Trippier ahead of tonight’s Newcastle and Arsenal clash. The England teammates are good friends from their time at Spurs previously.

The South Korean is a worth winner of the award but his comments here show just why he’s so good. He isn’t completely satisfied, and that is always a sign of a top sportsman or woman.

Son has been outstanding for Tottenham this year and has had his best year yet. If there is more to come, then Spurs fans can be excited about next season.
