Lewis Miley has been one of the surprise packages of the Premier League season so far for Newcastle.
Some earmarked Miley as a star for the future during pre-season, and a recent injury crisis at St James’ Park has allowed the teenager to come to the fore, and it’s fair to say he’s taken this opportunity with both hands.
Indeed, the midfielder has been utterly brilliant since coming into the first-team as of late, and speaking on Newcastle’s official YouTube channel, Bruno Guimaraes has been full of praise for Miley and the impact he has made in recent weeks.

Bruno Guimaraes hails Lewis Miley
Guimaraes spoke highly of the teenager.
“Very good, he was unbelievable. He’s doing very well since pre-season. He’s surprised everyone. I thought before when I was 17 years old I was definitely not as good a player as he is. He’s unbelievable. He’s doing very well and I hope he can keep it up. Everyone is impressed with him, he’s doing brilliant, I think Eddie is in love with him, I’m mad for him,” Guimaraes said.
Sky is the limit
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a midfielder this young make so much impact at a team like Newcastle.
As Guimaraes says, Miley is way ahead of where he was as a 17-year-old, and if this young man can continue on this sort of development path, he could become something truly special.
At just 17, Miley may actually be a decade off his peak, and the fact that he already looks so comfortable playing on the biggest of stages suggests that he could go on and become one of the best midfielders in the world in years to come.
Miley is certainly a player for Newcastle and England fans to be excited about in the coming years.
