With Celtic continuing to find any kind of consistent form in the Scottish Premiership and the amount of injuries they have to contend with, Brendan Rodgers certainly has a job on his hands at the moment.
The Celtic manager has had to deal with a horrendous run of injuries this season and is now being forced to play players that normally would normally not be in contention for a starting spot.
And BBC pundit, Michael Stewart reckons that is exactly what is happening with Argentine full-back, Alexandro Bernabei.
Signed by Ange Postecoglou back in 2022, the 23-year-old arrived at Celtic with a sense of excitement due to him being the first-ever signing from Argentina.
However, it seems that Bernabei is now not fancied by Rodgers and Stewart says the only reason he is getting a game is down to the injury to Greg Taylor.
Stewart said [Scottish Football Podcast], “You look at the side, to go back to it, Stephen Welsh has come on, Tony Ralston’s come on, young Vata is there as well, these are guys that really wouldn’t have been getting much game time before.
“Bernabei at left-back and I know he came in Ange Postecoglou’s time, no wonder he got taken off. He’s not good enough. He’s not good enough.
“And these are guys that are having more and more gametime because the squad is stretched with injuries. And the quality’s just down.”

It’s really hard to disagree with Strewart’s assertion here because out of Celtic’s 24 Scottish Premiership fixtures this season, the 23-year-old had been left out of the matchday squad 15 times and has been an unused substitute on two other occasions. [Transfermarkt]
Clearly had Taylor not been injured, Bernabei would not be getting used and he may well have gotten his wish to move to Italy.
Doubts remain over whether or not Bernabei will start against Hibs on Wednesday due to his part in Aberdeen’s opening goal at Pittodrie but one thing does seem certain, the former Argentina u23 international’s future at Celtic does look bleak.
