'He's better than me': Liverpool's Jordan Henderson makes admission about 28-year-old Tottenham player
Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson has said Tottenham’s talismanic striker Harry Kane is a better captain than him.
Kane is not captain of Spurs – that’s Hugo Lloris – but wears the armband for England, with Henderson his deputy at international level.
In an interview on YouTube, Henderson was asked what Kane was like as a captain and modestly said that the Three Lions skipper is better than him.
It was said with a smile on his face and the unity within the England camp means everyone pulls in the same direction and sings from the same hymn sheet anyway.
Henderson says Kane is a better captain than him
When asked what Kane is like as a captain, Henderson said: “Yeah, he’s a very good leader.
“Leads by example on the pitch and off the pitch.”
When asked ‘is he as good a captain as you?’, Henderson said: “Yeah, he’s better than me,” with a wink and a smile on his face.
Henderson was making his comment light-heartedly and he would be a worthy leader of the England ranks.
Plenty would say that Henderson is the better leader given he has lifted the Champions League and Premier League while wearing the armband, while Kane has not won any silverware as captain or otherwise.
Rio Ferdinand said back in March that Liverpool are nowhere near as good when Henderson doesn’t start, and while he is not perhaps an automatic starter for his country these days, his importance to Gareth Southgate is underlined by his inclusion in the Euro 2020 squad even though he wasn’t fully fit.
