'It's a fact': Rio Ferdinand says Liverpool are nowhere near as good when Klopp doesn't start £20m man
Rio Ferdinand has described Liverpool and England star Jordan Henderson as a “vital” player for club and country.
The 31-year-old has etched his name in Anfield folklore over the past few years.
Henderson went from criticism in his early years to captaining Liverpool to the biggest trophies in club football.
The £20million man lifted the Champions League, the Premier League, the Carabao Cup, the UEFA Supercup and the Club World Cup in the last few years.
Henderson has also featured plentifully for the Three Lions, including in the Euro 2020 final last year.
The Reds ace is likely to make the England squad for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar, hoping to go one better than last year.
“Henderson offers more than just ability”
On Tuesday, Joel Beya and Culture Cams joined Ferdinand in his latest FIVE YouTube video, which focused on the England team.
Culture Cams questioned whether Henderson should be starting for England, and Ferdinand wasn’t having any of it.
“When he doesn’t play for Liverpool, they’re not as good,” said the former Three Lions defender. “It’s a fact.
Ferdinand then spoke of his formative days as a footballer and the importance of having reassuring senior players around him.
“I just feel that someone like Jordan Henderson offers more than just ability in a Liverpool shirt and in an England shirt and I think he’s vital,” he added.
“Whether he plays or not, now that’s a different story because that’s debatable. But being in this as a squad member, there’s no doubt in my mind.”
Absolutely spot on – Henderson is a great player who has so much experience, which is crucial for club and country.
Indeed, England are due a major trophy and are better-placed for it now than for most of their last 56 years since their last one.
And if any one player knows what it takes to get over the line and end years of hurt, it’s Henderson.
