'He's a top player': Jordan Pickford raves about £58m player who's reportedly tempted to join Newcastle
Jordan Pickford was asked about Christian Pulisic before England’s clash with the United States of America on Friday night.
Pulisic is America’s main threat and set up their only goal of the tournament so far, when Timothy Weah opened the scoring against Wales.
He is also reportedly a target for Newcastle and may be tempted to join Eddie Howe’s revolution at St James’ Park.
At a press conference in the lead-up to the game, which will see England qualify for the knockout rounds if they win, Pickford faced a question about Pulisic.
Pickford on Pulisic
When asked how he was preparing to face Pulisic, Pickford said: “He’s a top player.
“I’ve played against him for a few years now when he’s at Chelsea. He’s good with both feet. He’s very clinical.
“We’ve got to be wary of him but we practice every day on the training pitch to be prepared for anything.”
£58 million man Pulisic clearly has ability; that is why Chelsea bought him and that is why he is the one carrying the hopes of a nation.
He will hope to continue on from his impressive performance against Wales, but England’s defenders and Pickford will know all about him.
Pulisic could come up against a Newcastle man in the shape of Kieran Trippier on Friday night, if Gareth Southgate goes with an unchanged side.
He could go with Kyle Walker or Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back, but Trippier shone against Iran.
