Hertha Berlin manager Pal Dardai has told German magazine Kicker that Matheus Cunha has a ‘lot of offers’ on the table. Leeds United have been strongly linked with the Olympics gold medal winner. But they face plenty of competition from some huge European clubs – including Atletico Madrid.
Still only 22, Cunha has enjoyed a brilliant 12 months. Starring in his first full season for Hertha, the Brazil international produced 16 goal involvements in 28 league and cup appearances. At the Olympics, he scored three goals in five games including one in the final against Spain.
Now, he returns to Hertha and could be a part of the side that travels to Koln on Sunday. It was reported this month that his asking price had dropped from £30 million to just £21.5 million. Now, Dardai has admitted he has offers on the table but is hopeful Cunha remains at Hertha.
“He has a lot of offers, but also a Hertha heart,” Dardai said. Speaking ahead of this weekend’s Bundesliga opener against Koln, Dardai said he is available: “We’ll be able to use him this weekend, we’re counting on him. His positive euphoria after the medal, we can use it. He’s a winner. He’s fit.”

Cunha would transform Leeds summer amid Dardai comments
Especially at the bargain price of just £21.5million. Cunha showed not only at the Olympics, but last season too, that he is one of German football’s best up-and-coming products. He is scoring goals, he is creating goals, he is dealing with the pressure of representing his country at just 22.
So, for a fee of only £21.5million, Leeds must be doing everything they can to lure Cunha to Elland Road. Napoli, Atalanta, Zenit and Atletico are keen too – but the chance to play alongside Raphinha for Marcelo Bielsa in the Premier League is surely tempting. Leeds must make their move.
