‘Here we go’: West Ham United set to miss out on ‘immense’ PL player, he’s flying out to sign elsewhere – Romano

West Ham United have been linked with a move for Manchester United defender Eric Bailly this summer but look set to miss out, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the player is flying out to sign for Marseille.

Reports suggested earlier this month that West Ham hold an interest in bringing Bailly to East London this summer.

The Hammers have been busy bolstering David Moyes’ squad and have been on the lookout for defensive reinforcements.

The club have already brought in Thilo Kehrer from Paris Saint-Germain and Nayeuf Aguerd from Stade Rennais.

And the Hammers were apparently plotting a move for the ‘immense’ Bailly, but he looks set to sign elsewhere.

West Ham to miss out on Bailly

Fabrizio Romano reports that a deal for Bailly to move to Marseille on loan has been completed.

The United centre-back is set to say his goodbyes to teammates today and will fly out to France within the next 24 hours.

And if the French outfit qualify for the Champions League this season, they will be obligated to buy the Ivory Coast international.

The Hammers have recently brought in Kehrer and the player made his debut against Brighton on Sunday.

But Moyes still seems slightly short in the position due to injuries to Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson. While Issa Diop completed a move to Fulham this summer.

Bailly could have been an attractive option for the Hammers, despite his concerning injury record at United.

The 28-year-old has struggled to nail down a place in United’s team recently due to recurring injuries but has shown he is capable of being a solid defender in the Premier League.

But now he looks set to join Marseille and if Moyes is still keen to bring in another centre-back, the club will probably have to look elsewhere.

Moyes’ men have got off to a poor start this season as they have lost all three of their opening Premier League games. The Scotsman may decide to dip back into the market for another defender before the window closes.
