'Here we go': Romano says 'extraordinary' attacker Arsenal reportedly want has agreed move to PL rivals
Arsenal have been linked with Atletico Madrid’s Matheus Cunha in recent weeks.
Last week, The Athletic claimed the Gunners were eyeing the Brazilian as a replacement for the injured Gabriel Jesus.
Journalist Dean Jones also suggested that Arsenal were “biding their time” over a potential approach for Cunha.
With Jesus reportedly on the sidelines for three months, the Gunners may well look to bring in a new striker in January.
Cunha certainly seemed like a good shout for Arsenal, a talented young forward who’s currently out of favour at his top-flight club.
However, the Gunners – and several other suitors – appear to have lost out in the race for the 23-year-old.
Multiple sources, including Fabrizio Romano, have claimed that Wolves have reached agreement.
The transfer insider says the two clubs have reached a verbal agreement, while the player has agreed terms with Wolves.
The deal is a loan with obligation to buy for around £34million. A medical is in the pipeline while the paperworks are being completed, added Romano.
Arsenal will surely have numerous names on their wishlist
Arsenal surely will not want a repeat of last season, when they offloaded Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and didn’t bring in a replacement.
The Gunners ended up missing out on a Champions League spot. Now, with the Premier League title at stake, they absolutely cannot throw this away.
With that in mind, Arsenal will surely look to bring in a new striker. And Cunha would’ve been a good shout.
Admittedly, he has struggled this season, failing to score a single goal to date and missing out on Brazil’s World Cup squad as a result.
However, Cunha is clearly a talented player. He has been labelled an ‘extraordinary‘ talent in the past.
His performances have arguably been better than his record would suggest. And he seems to tick some of the same boxes as Jesus.
It’s a shame Arsenal seem to have missed out on him, but surely they’ll have other names on their wishlist.
