‘Here we go’: Fabrizio Romano has some bad news for Tottenham fans

Tottenham Hotspur appear to have missed out on a player they’ve reportedly been eyeing since last year.

For months, Spurs have been linked with AC Milan star Franck Kessie.

The Ivory Coast international’s agent said in June last year that Tottenham were trying to sign him.

And with Kessie’s contract expiring in summer, speculation linking Spurs and the player increased in January.

Indeed, Tottenham allegedly made a ‘very powerful’ offer for the 25-year-old in February.

However, it now looks as though Barcelona have foiled the north Londoners’ transfer plans once again.

Adama Traore’s decision to join the Camp Nou giants in January left Tottenham reeling.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Kessie to Barca is a done deal.

He claims the player has reached an agreement to join them on a free transfer when his contact expires in June.

While it’s a shame that the Kessie to Spurs transfer saga looks to be over, Tottenham did very well in landing Rodrigo Bentancur.

And while Fabio Paratici does like free transfers, he’ll likely have a lengthy wishlist which he’ll go through in summer.

The signings of Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski were perfect for Tottenham, and Paratici can be trusted to unearth more gems.

No club will sign every player that crops up on the rumour mill, but so long as those who arrive are high-calibre and the right fit, then that’s all that matters.
