'Including Tottenham': Spurs are now said to be trying to sign 'devastating' midfielder
Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Franck Kessie from AC Milan, according to his agent’s comments on Tutto Mercato Web Radio.
Tottenham do not have a manager in place, but new sporting director Fabio Paratici has been looking for transfer targets already.
And it seems that Kessie’s name is one that is on his list of potential players to bring to Spurs.
“Now [Kessie] is the one who holds the knife by the handle and can decide what is best for him rather than the club,” Kessie’s agent, Massimo Brambati, said.
“I know that in addition to Inter there are two Premier League teams interested in him, including Tottenham.”
Is he needed?
Kessie is certainly a player that Paratici knows well, as his Juventus side came up against him on multiple occasions.
His arrival at Tottenham could be appearing as he would offer more steel and technique to their side, after being hailed as ‘devastating’ by Antonio Cassano last season (CalcioMercato).
But it is questionable whether Spurs actually need to invest heavily in a defensive midfielder.
Tottenham have Pierre Emile Hojbjerg, who looks almost certain to play a key role, while Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso can also play alongside him.
There are also hopes that Oliver Skipp could play a first-team role at Spurs next season, and the North London club surely won’t want to block their most promising youngster’s progress.
Kessie would add quality, but if Spurs’ budget limited, he may be considered a lavish purchase.
And if Tottenham did push through a move for Kessie it would come as a slight surprise, as he is unlikely to come cheaply.
