Arsenal are on the lookout for their next captain after Mikel Arteta stripped Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of the Gunners armband.
On Tuesday, Arsenal confirmed in a statement that the 32-year-old “will no longer be” the Gunners captain.
In addition, Arteta will not consider Aubameyang for selection for Arsenal’s Premier League meeting with West Ham.

The Arsenal manager dropped the Gabon international from the squad that beat Southampton on Saturday.
While Arteta didn’t disclose how the striker broke the rules, The Athletic claim he returned late from a trip abroad.
For the time being, Arsenal will resort to a leadership group with Alexandre Lacazette and Granit Xhaka at the helm.
But in the long term, there’s one player who has long been tipped for the Gunners captaincy and who should get the gig.
Since joining Arsenal in 2019, Kieran Tierney has become a crucial member of the Gunners squad.
The 24-year-old has made 72 competitive appearances for Arsenal, and has also won 29 Scotland caps.

In addition, Tierney made 170 competitive appearances for Celtic – that’s a lot of top-level experience.
The left-back is a fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium thanks to his incredible talent, hard-working attitude, and down-to-earth personality.
These traits surely make him a shoo-in to take the Arsenal captain’s armband.
“I’d give him the captaincy” – Paul Merson
Last year, Arsenal icon Paul Merson tipped Tierney to be the next Gunners captain.
“I would give it to Tierney as he’d run through a brick wall for you,” he told Sky Sports.
“He’s the one player I look at who gives everything, and I’d give him the captaincy.
“There’s a way of showing how much you care, and the relationship he is building with Bukayo Saka down the left looks decent.”
Tierney isn’t just a star for his club – he has also helped Scotland back to major tournament qualification.
On top of helping his nation reach Euro 2020, they’re also in the World Cup playoffs.

“Tierney? Unbelievable!”
In the recent qualifying game against Moldova, Tierney made an incredible goalline challenge.
Right after Craig Gordon saved a penalty, the Arsenal ace rushed into the box and kicked the ball out of play before the Moldova man could smash in the rebound.
Sky Sports commentator Ally McCoist was blown away, saying: “Never mind the [penalty] save.
“The save is brilliant, but what about Tierney? Unbelievable that is!
“I’m telling you, that’s incredible. The save is wonderful. The challenge from Tierney is ridiculous. It’s brilliant.
“I’m telling you, the save’s excellent, I’m thrilled with the save. I’m double-thrilled with Tierney.”
