Kai Havertz is one of the most polarising players we can remember ever playing for Arsenal.
He’s in good form right now, but many fans and pundits alike still don’t quite rate the German.
Havertz is a strange player. He doesn’t have a set position, he doesn’t have a traditional skillset, and, despite his size and frame, he’s not a physically dominant player.
However, speaking on the Handbrake Off Podcast, Adrian Clarke has been discussing Havertz’s style of play, and he says that the £65m man actually works a lot harder than many think he does.

Havertz works harder than people think
Clarke spoke about the German.
“It feels like it doesn’t it, there’s been quite the battle to claim that spot, but he’s definitely in pole position. I would agree with all of those things said about him. He works harder than you think, he’s more aggressive than you think, he wins the ball back a lot, the height factor is a thing, it has to be, it helps massively. When we signed him I imagined him ghosting into the box to score, and he’s starting to do it,” Clarke said.
Laid back
Havertz is a hard-working player, but it sometimes comes across as if he doesn’t care due to his laidback approach at times.
The midfielder can sometimes look a bit lackadaisical on the pitch. It’s the same issue that afflicted the likes of Paul Pogba and Tanguy Ndombele at Manchester United and Tottenham, the optics make it look as though he’s not working hard, but he covers ground as well as anyone else.
Havertz is a tough player to fall in love with because he doesn’t look like he should on the pitch, but, the reality is that he does work hard and he’s quietly becoming a very important part of this Arsenal team.
