‘He thinks’: Amadou Onana shares what Lampard has told him he needs to do more often for Everton

Amadou Onana has been speaking to Everton’s official website and has shared what Frank Lampard has told him he needs to do more often.

Onana has got off to a decent start to his Everton career after making the switch from Lille this summer.

The 21-year-old has put in some solid displays in the Toffees midfield and the early signs are encouraging for Lampard.

But the English boss has given him some advice on a certain aspect of his game.

Onana shares what Lampard has told him

Speaking to Everton’s official website, the Belgian was asked how he’s found working under Lampard over the past few weeks

“It’s been great so far. The past couple of weeks have just confirmed what my thoughts were beforehand – he’s a great manager and a nice human being as well,” he said.

“He’s full of ambition and he has a clear idea of how he wants to play football, which fits very well for me. There have been only positives.

“Of course, he was a midfielder as well and while we’re different players, I know I’m learning from the best. I’m just glad that I can work with him on a daily basis.”

Onana was also asked what he admired most about his boss as a player. And he revealed that Lampard feels he could score more often due to his physical attributes.

He added: “His finishing… If I could finish as good as he could, I’d be happy with that!

“It’s something we talk about. He thinks that with my physical attributes I can score more and be more decisive.”

Lampard clearly played a big role in Onana choosing to join Everton this summer. The player reportedly had an offer from West Ham on the table

But the Belgium international made the switch to Goodison Park and looks set to be a mainstay in Lampard’s midfield.

Onana isn’t renowned for his goal scoring but working under Lampard, it could certainly be an area he improves on.
