New Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch faced the media for the first time after his appointment today and the American delivered some worrying injury news about Diego Llorente.

The Whites parted ways with Marcelo Bielsa earlier this week. The Argentine’s time at Elland Road came to an end after a series of poor results, with the 4-0 loss against Tottenham last weekend proving to be the final blow.

Marsch has been linked with the Leeds job for quite a while but it is, in ways, a surprise that he was given the job before the end of the season.

The American now has to find a way to turn things around for Leeds, but he has some bad news to share already.

Jesse Marsch: Diego Llorente could miss Leeds game vs Leicester due to injury

Marsch sat down for his press conference for the first time this afternoon and he seemed pretty relaxed. However, his mind is at work ahead of the difficult game against Leicester City on Saturday.

One decision he has to make is in defence. Diego Llorente has been a regular for Leeds this season and even played the full 90 minutes against Tottenham last weekend.

However, he is set to miss the game against the Foxes.

Marsch said in his press conference today, as per Leeds Live: “Patrick (Bamford) needs evaluating. Bench? Close. Diego Llorente not in training today and he is questionable.”

Llorente will be a miss for Leeds United this weekend but Marsch still has to find a way to get off to a good start.

Leicester are a really dangerous side and when the Whites were under Bielsa, their system suited the Foxes’ style of play brilliantly.

It will be interesting to see how different Leeds will be under Marsch.

The American’s attacking philosophy isn’t too different to Bielsa’s, but if he can close the gaps that the Whites so often left open under their previous boss, they will come away with a positive result.
