Newcastle United and England striker Callum Wilson has just made a claim that may irk a few Leeds United fans.
The Whites parted ways with Marcelo Bielsa a few days ago. The Argentine will forever remain a hero to Leeds fans after everything he did for them, but poor recent results just meant that there was a need for change.
One of the biggest criticisms of Bielsa and his system was how open Leeds were. Every opponent in the country knew that if they played Leeds, they were guaranteed to have chances to score, which is arguably what has caused them problems this term.
Wilson has played against Bielsa’s Leeds and he has just echoed the same thing. However, he still believes that the Argentine is a top manager.
Callum Wilson: Every player loves playing against Leeds United
England international Wilson, who joined Newcastle for £20 million in 2020, and fellow striker Michail Antonio discussed Bielsa’s sacking on The Footballer’s Football podcast on BBC today.
The Toon star said: “Leeds we’ve played you twice, which is a good thing.
“But Leeds are always an entertaining side, everyone in the Premier League enjoys watching them and playing against them as well, as you do get opportunities as a striker.
“But I think you need to be careful about it! The Geordie boys are in full steam and I think the manager has done wonders, that’s what Leeds are probably hoping will happen.
“But Bielsa was obviously a top guy.”

TBR View:
Bielsa was indeed a top guy and as sad as it is, Leeds United fans have to move on.
Jesse Marsch has now come in and has a difficult job on his hands.
Leeds are 16th in the table and are just two points above 18th-place Burnley. The Clarets, who have looked really good recently, even have a game in hand over the Whites.
The new Leeds boss has to find a way to hit the ground running. Any more hiccups and his side will drop into the bottom three. Once a team is there, there’s no guarantee that they’ll make it out.
