'He could': Gabby Agbonlahor still thinks 25-year-old Spurs player's going to be benched after the World Cup

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte will be itching to have his full squad available once again.

After having to deal with a number of key injuries before the World Cup, his team now look in much better shape.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Gabby Agbonlahor has been discussing his options.

A number of Tottenham’s players are having a brilliant time in Qatar.

Even though he’s only scored once, Harry Kane has been playing brilliantly for England.

He’s acting as England’s chief playmaker as well as getting on the end of chances.

Hugo Lloris will be hoping to lead France to back-to-back World Cup titles.

The 35-year-old needs to find a way to stop Kane on Saturday in the quarter-finals.

Ivan Perisic and Cristian Romero are both still at the tournament, as is Richarlison.

The Brazilian has been on fire for the Selecao, and has been a menace leading the line for his country.

However, Agbonlahor is worried that Richarlison may find himself on the bench when he returns to Spurs.

The TalkSPORT pundit isn’t sure how Conte will fit him into the side despite his fantastic form.

Richarlison could end up on Tottenham’s bench

Speaking on TalkSPORT about the 25-year-old, Agbonlahor said: “What happens when he’s in this form when he gets back to Spurs?

“He’s not going to accept being on the bench is he behind Kane? Who’s he going to play instead of.

“I mean, he’s in great form, but he could come back to Spurs and be on the bench.”

Conte’s preferred formation has normally meant that one of his four main attackers starts from the bench.

Conte will never consider dropping Kane, and Kulusevski has been essential to Tottenham’s good form.

Son Heung-min wasn’t playing his best football before the World Cup, but is still one of Conte’s favourites.

Richarlison could end up on Tottenham’s bench once again unless Conte compromises on his system.

He may have to sacrifice a centre-back and ask his wide defenders to sit deeper, which wouldn’t benefit the likes of Ivan Perisic.

It’s a wonderful problem for Conte to have, and something he’ll be thinking about before their Boxing Day clash with Brentford.

Seeing as he’s never played the four attackers together before, it would be gamble to try it when the season restarts.
