Tottenham Hotspur confirmed that winger Jack Clarke has gone on loan to Championship side QPR earlier this week – but have Spurs missed a trick in loaning the teenage star to the second-tier side?
Clarke, 19, broke through at Leeds last season and after 25 appearances under Marcelo Bielsa, Tottenham chose to spend £10million to land the winger – before loaning him back to Leeds for the 2019-20 season.
But after just three appearances for Leeds – only one of which in the Championship – during the first half of the season, Tottenham have recalled England Under-20 international Clarke, and sent him on loan to QPR.
Clarke could now make his debut for QPR on Saturday, against former side Leeds with the Whites travelling south to take on QPR in the Championship clash. But have Tottenham missed a trick in loaning Clarke to QPR?
Indeed, Spurs have long been linked with playmaker Eberechi Eze, who The Sun claimed in December is being eyed by Jose Mourinho’s men as well as Sheffield United and Southampton. It is believed he is valued at around £12million.

The arrival of Mark Warburton has massively helped an impressive Eze become one of the Championship’s most dangerous players. In a side that has a free-flowing attack, midfielder Eze has shone – having a hand in 16 goals.
The England Under-21 international has scored 10 times for QPR from midfield this season, as well as creating six goals for his teammates. Kalvin Phillips will certainly have a job on his hands come Saturday, claiming Eze is “one of the best” he has faced.
But with Spurs keeping tabs on Eze, should the north Londoners have used a loan for Clarke to help their cause in a move for the QPR 21-year-old? Including a Clarke loan in a deal for Eze may have swayed QPR, and reduced the asking price.
Instead, QPR have got Clarke on loan until the end of the season and the Londoners’ interest in the young Spurs winger has been wasted by the north London Premier League side. Eze is likely to have an interested summer ahead of him.
