Kalvin Phillips has told Leeds United’s pre-QPR press conference – as quoted by Leeds Live – as saying that QPR playmaker Eberechi Eze is one of the best attacking midfielders he has played against.
Leeds take on QPR at Loftus Road on Saturday, in a match they will be looking for revenge. Last season, Leeds went to QPR and lost 1-0 – a crucial result and defeat in their failure to remain in the top two places in the Championship.
Eze, 21, has continued his stunning form for QPR this season, improving under Mark Warburton. The new QPR gaffer has given the London side the freedom to attack freely, benefitting Eze – who has had a hand in 16 goals in 27 league games.
The Sun have claimed Tottenham, Southampton and Sheffield United are keeping tabs on the £12million-rated Eze, while Leeds were linked with the England Under-21 cap was eyed by Leeds back in March – as per TalkSPORT. Phillips commented.
“Eze is one of the best I’ve played against,” Phillips admitted. It is the way he moves the ball and his body. I like tackling, but he’s hard to get close to. You know [about a player], but can always be surprised. Eze at QPR, for example.”
TBR’s view – Winner of Phillips and Eze will pick up three points
It is the mosty crucial battle on the park. Easily QPR’s best player, Eze will have to get the better of arguably Leeds’ best player in Phillips if he is to get QPR three points – in what could be Jack Clarke’s debut for the London club.
However, if Phillips can keep Eze quiet throughout the 90 minutes, Leeds will have a much stronger chance to beat QPR with consummate ease. Stopping Eze will win Leeds three points, but getting the better of Phillips will see QPR win.
