Harry Redknapp has spoken about Spurs’ reported pursuit of Cristian Romero to talkSPORT.
Tottenham have been heavily linked with the Argentina international for weeks.
And the latest speculation suggests Spurs are effectively on the home straight.
Fabrizio Romano’s latest update on the Spurs and Romano speculation is as follows:
Redknapp, speaking to talkSPORT on Wednesday morning, says he’s been told that Romero is a quality player.
“They have got a new sporting director (Fabio Paratici) that’s going to be responsible for bringing the players in,” said Redknapp (3/8/21, 7:40am).
“It looks like he’s going to go into the Italian market. That’s the market he probably knows.

“It looks like they are trying to get the boy from Atalanta, the centre-back, they tell me he’s a very good player.
“A few people have said that he’s ‘very good’.”
Spurs target Cristian Romero – the story so far
Romero came through the ranks at Argentine club Belgrano.
He made just 18 competitive appearances before stepping up to Europe.
The 6ft centre-back linked up with Genoa in 2018 and made a name for himself with the Grifone.

Italian giants Juventus made their move a year later and bought him for a reported £23.4million.
Juve loaned Romero back to Genoa for the 2019-20 season, clocking up a total of 60 appearances for the club over two years.
The following summer, the £31,000-a-week ace joined Atalanta on a two-year loan with an option to buy for a reported £13.8million.
To date, he has made 42 appearances for La Dea and has won five caps for Argentina, winning the Copa America this summer.
