'Hardly touched the ball': £33m playmaker Tottenham reportedly want slated for his World Cup display today
Hakim Ziyech played the full game for Morocco as they got their World Cup campaign underway with a 0-0 draw with Croatia.
The playmaker has not played a huge amount for Chelsea this season after being linked with Tottenham during the summer transfer window.
John Hartson was co-commentator on the game for ITV and actually thought that Ziyech had been subbed off in the second half.
But he was still on the pitch, it was just that he struggled so much to get into the game that Hartson thought the £33 million man had been hooked.
Ziyech struggles at the World Cup
In stoppage time, Hartson said: “It’s been that long since I’ve seen Ziyech in the game, I actually thought he went off.
“I’ve not seen him in the second half. He’s hardly touched the ball.
“Did you notice I said earlier on that Ziyech had gone off? Just not seen him at all. I think he’s touched the ball twice.”
As per WhoScored, Ziyech had two shots in the game, but neither of them were on target and he had the second lowest pass accuracy in the team with 61.3 per cent.
He did lay on two key passes, which was more than any player in the team, but he failed to help his side break the deadlock.
A 0-0 draw with 2018 World Cup finalists Croatia is not a bad result for Morocco, and Ziyech will hope to come to the party in the next two group games.
