‘Hard to believe’…Tottenham stunned £50m player is available for transfer, they want him

Tottenham are now pushing to try and sign a midfielder and are continuing to track Conor Gallagher in case he leaves Chelsea.

Gallagher is thought to be Tottenham’s main priority in terms of a new midfielder. The Chelsea skipper is yet to sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge, despite wanting to stay put.

The England midfielder’s situation has kept Tottenham firmly interested this month. Spurs have already signed Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin in the past week, and now want a midfielder.

And speaking to GiveMeSport, journalist Dean Jones has said that Spurs can’t actually believe they have a chance of signing Gallagher.

Tottenham surprised they could sign Conor Gallagher

Discussing the fee it might take for Gallagher to depart Chelsea for Spurs, Jones touched on how Spurs are actually surprised at what seems to be an open invite to bid for the midfielder

“Conor Gallagher is a player they have an interest in. They find it hard to believe that he will actually become available for transfer but, if he genuinely is, they think they are the perfect club for him to end up at. If they could get Conor Gallagher for £40million to £50million, I think they would probably see that as a good deal and one that they would actually try to pursue. But at the moment, obviously, they have still got the problem – on an emotional level on Conor Gallagher’s side of things – whereby he doesn’t want to leave Chelsea,” Jones said.

Spurs should keep pushing

This would make Tottenham’s January window quite something if they landed Gallagher.

There is a reason this story is not going away and that’s because Chelsea don’t seem to be able to get their house in order when it comes to their skipper. He must be getting some signs he’s not fully wanted, so that will be encouraging Spurs.

Tottenham, then, should keep at it with this.

If they can land Gallagher on top of Werner and Dragusin, it will have been one of their best windows for some time.

Ange Postecoglou wanted to add to the squad this month and it looks like he’s getting his way.

Gallagher would be a huge signing and would upset the apple-cart in London.
