Antoine Griezmann was seen paying tribute to Harry Kane in slightly bizarre circumstances while training with France this week, with the striker shouting the name of the Tottenham Hotspur star after bagging a header – against Hugo Lloris.
It has been a successful international break for Didier Deschamps’ men. They beat Ivory Coast 2-1 on Friday and followed that with a 5-0 victory over South Africa on Tuesday.

Surprisingly, Griezmann was unable to get onto the scoresheet in either game. Nevertheless, he was clearly in good spirits ahead of the second friendly.
France posted a video on YouTube showing their squad working in training ahead of facing Bafana Bafana. And at around 35 seconds in, Griezmann puts an excellent header past Lloris from around the penalty spot.

As the Atletico Madrid star wheels away, he shouts the name of Harry Kane.
Of course, he may choosing that moment to compare himself to one of the world’s best number nines. It is a superbly-placed header from the Frenchman.
But you would also imagine that Griezmann is well aware that the player he has beaten is Kane’s Tottenham teammate, Lloris.
Harry Kane seen as the benchmark for strikers
Anyone who has spent a significant amount of time playing Headers & Volleys or similar will know that it can be quite common to shout the name of a player you admire when hoping to find the top corner with that overhead kick you know you have in the locker.
For some strange reason however, it rarely came off.
Griezmann cheats somewhat by waiting until after he scores before mentioning Harry Kane.
But perhaps, it still does show the admiration he has for the Tottenham star.
