‘Great improvement’: Stellini says 22-year-old Tottenham player has got so much better, he’s brilliant in training

Tottenham assistant manager Cristian Stellini has hailed the improvement in the performances of Bryan Gil lately.

Leading up to the transfer window, it seemed that Gil was set for a loan move to La Liga, where he spent the second half of last season with Valencia.

But Antonio Conte has started him in Spurs’ last two games and has said he does not want to sell the Spanish playmaker.

Stellini took the press conference before Spurs’ FA Cup third round clash with Portsmouth and said that the 22-year-old has come on so much recently.

Stellini praises Gil improvement

When asked if Gil will stay beyond the end of the open transfer window, Stellini said: “I think so.

“He’s playing very well and we’re so happy.

“He has a great, great, improvement because he trains every day 110 percent and this is why he deserved to play an assist and the passes before the assist in this match.”

Gil has to produce consistently and add more goals and assists to his name between now and the end of the season to keep kicking on.

He does look capable of offering guile from that right hand side when Dejan Kulusevski is out and that alternative is something Spurs have lacked for much of the season.

The Spaniard has to keep improving and perhaps this weekend’s game offers an opportunity to get a first goal of the season.
