Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur have brilliant partnership at Tottenham - Conte
The Italian will be hoping to welcome some new faces to his squad in the next two weeks.
He’s not hidden the fact that he wants to improve his squad in January, with an attacker and right wing-back the priority.
However, there’s a lot of talent still to work with within the Spurs squad.
The pair are Conte’s first-choice midfield, but haven’t played together since before the World Cup.
He now expects to have them both available for their trip to Manchester City.
Bentancur and Hojbjerg have formed brilliant Tottenham partnership – Conte
Speaking ahead of their tie against Manchester City, Conte said: “We are talking about an important player [Bentancur] for us. You have seen the difference last season, with [Dejan] Kulusevski, they came into our team.
“And also, with Pierre, they create a good couple of midfielders.
“He is an important player for us. This is good news. We have another training session and then we will try and make the best decision.”
Hojbjerg’s importance at the club has been underlined recently, with Ben Jacobs suggesting Spurs want to offer him a new deal.
The Dane guided Pape Matar Sarr through the North London Derby, and has already scored some vital goals this season.
Before the World Cup, Bentancur was arguably Tottenham’s most in-form player.
Losing him to an injury while he was in Qatar would have been one of the last things Conte wanted to see.
Jamie Redknapp has said that Tottenham are a completely different team with Bentancur plays.
It’s hard to argue with him, with his energy transforming Conte’s side.
The partnership Bentancur and Hojbjerg have created at Tottenham is essential to their success.
They’ll be looking to build on their recent good form against Manchester City tomorrow when they travel to The Etihad.
