Gold says Spurs think they can agree fee for Bastoni, but there’s an issue

Alasdair Gold has told his YouTube channel that Tottenham Hotspur believe that they will have few problems agreeing a deal for Alessandro Bastoni, with the one issue being whether the Inter Milan star feels ready to move to the Premier League.

Tottenham have their first signing through the door. Ivan Perisic has joined the club on a free transfer. And the supporters will be expecting the Croatian to be the first of many to join in this window.

Perhaps Perisic may not even be the last Inter player to join Spurs this summer. Tottenham have been linked with Lautaro Martinez. But they also want Bastoni.

In fact, reports claimed that Antonio Conte believes that Bastoni could become one of the best in the world in his position. And he has instructed Tottenham to sign him whatever the price. The Nerazzurri reportedly value Bastoni at £51 million.

Inter would surely love to keep the Italy international. But Gold has suggested that Tottenham are optimistic that they can get terms agreed over a potential move for Bastoni. However, there are concerns that the 23-year-old may feel that the time may not be right to leave San Siro.

“We know Alessandro Bastoni is the top centre-back target and Tottenham are trying to get that done. It’s at an interesting place right now,” he told his YouTube channel.

“I think Tottenham believe that they’ll be able to sort out wages and a fee and things like that. I don’t think they really see that as an issue.

“The only issue right now is Bastoni himself believing that it’s the right point in his career to come to the Premier League. I understand he does want to play for Antonio Conte again one day. At the moment, he’s only 23. He’s very happy at Inter Milan and how things are going.”

One issue as Tottenham ready move for Bastoni

As Gold suggests, it is really difficult to call how Bastoni will view a move to Tottenham. He will definitely have chances to leave Inter in the future if he continues to develop.

But it is an exciting time to join Spurs. They made huge strides forward under Conte. And it looks set to be one major summer for the club.

Conte will want to have a squad who are not simply looking to make top-four. They have a Champions League campaign to look forward to also.

So if Spurs meet Inter’s demands on the fee, Bastoni will certainly have a lot to think about.
